Open Your Home
Each year, the Stroll Through History invites a small group of homeowners to share their homes as part of this beloved community event. Opening your home helps preserve and celebrate Woodland’s architectural heritage while giving visitors a rate opportunity to experience these historic spaces firsthand.
Whether your home is modest or grand, thoughtfully restored or simply well-maintained, participating in the Stroll is a meaningful way to contribute to the preservation and story of our town.
Become a Stroll Through History Open Home
Home Between January through June of each year, The Stroll Through History looks for and recruits volunteers to showcase their homes as the marquee component of the Stroll. We look for homes that are at least 60 years old, have some unique architectural elements in recognition of the era of construction, are nicely maintained, or have been restored / remodeled to honor historic elements. We try to prioritize homes inside Woodland, but do occasionally feature homes outside city limits.
Your home does not need to be large or grand - we love showcasing all sizes and a variety of eras. Some homeowners choose to show their entire home, while others may limit tours to certain areas of the house. You can also choose to be present during the tour, or leave your home in the care of the docents.
Benefits to Homeowners:
- A beautiful, original watercolor of your home
- A stipend, typically enough to cover 1-2 professional cleanings
- Docents to guide home tours
- Pride in your home and endless gratitude from participants
- An excuse to complete your to-do list 😉
“The Stroll makes us appreciate our beautiful historic homes, and it makes us preserve that aspect of our community. The Stroll, and its participants, make Woodland the kind of town where people want to live.”
Mel Russel, Historic Hero
